Oakhill, Radstock, Somerset, BA3 5AQ

Originally built around 1759 as the coach house to Oakhill House, The Old Coach House is a charming period home set within a peaceful conservation area in the Somerset village of Oakhill.

Converted in the 1980s, this former country house outbuilding combines period character with generous modern accommodation, enjoying a private position approached by a long drive, while remaining well connected for Bath, Bristol, Frome, Wells and Shepton Mallet.

Having lived here since 1996, the owners have enjoyed almost 30 years in a home that has provided the perfect setting for family life.

‘We were immediately drawn to the beautiful location, the privacy and the feeling of space,’ say the owners.

‘The location offers the best of both worlds – peaceful countryside with excellent connections.’ The layout is both spacious and practical, with a central hallway leading to a cosy snug, generous reception room and a large open-plan kitchen/dining room which forms the heart of the home.

Filled with natural light, the kitchen provides an excellent space for everyday living and entertaining, while a shower room/utility completes the ground floor.

Upstairs, the impressive galleried landing leads to five bedrooms, including one with an en suite bathroom, alongside a family bathroom.

‘The kitchen is very special in terms of its size and feel – it has always been the hub of our family life,’ the owners add.

Outside, the property benefits from private gardens with plenty of space for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying the surrounding countryside.

A greenhouse and potting shed add to its appeal, while a double garage and separate outbuilding provide excellent additional space.

‘We currently use the outbuilding as an office and studio however it could become a more liveable space subject to the correct planning permission.’ Oakhill itself is a welcoming village with a shop just a short walk away, an good pub nearby and regular bus links between Bath and Wells.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the property enjoys easy access to excellent schools, rail services, Bristol International Airport and further amenities.
