104, Frithville Gardens, London, W12 7JW

A lilac front door offers the first hint that this isn’t a typical Shepherd’s Bush terrace.

Inside, Frithville Gardens turns out to be far from expected – three floors of contemporary interiors wear their period detail lightly and a private garden comes with a barrel sauna.

The ground floor sets up the social life of the house. An original Murano disc chandelier forms the centrepiece of the sitting room, where a large frame TV takes pride of place above the fireplace.

Through a connecting doorway, the dining room continues the theme: Another fireplace, a long table to gather around and doors that open straight out to the garden.

The kitchen completes the ground floor run – gloss cream cabinetry, a heated checkerboard floor and a Smeg cooker – with doors that seamlessly connect the garden.

Mature trees and brick walls give it an enclosed, almost courtyard quality; a barrel sauna, tucked discreetly to one side, adds a wellness dimension.

Upstairs, the principal bedroom takes up most of the first floor. An olive green velvet headboard, a wall of mirrored wardrobes and a mid-century desk balance comfort with character.

A dressing room sits adjacent; the en suite is finished with a built-in bathtub and walk-in rainfall shower.

Three further bedrooms have their own character, served by a family bathroom and shower room.

At the top of the house, a roof terrace – decked, with trees in planters and a bistro table – catches the sky above the rooftops.

Location Frithville Gardens sits in a quiet residential pocket between Shepherd’s Bush and Hammersmith.
