Shared Ownership is a housing scheme aimed at making homeownership more affordable.

It allows you to buy a portion of a property, usually between 10% and 75%, while paying rent on the remaining share to a housing association or private landlord.

This means you need a smaller mortgage and deposit compared to buying a property outright.

Over time, you can purchase additional shares in the property, a process known as "staircasing," which can eventually lead to full ownership.

This scheme is particularly beneficial for first-time buyers or those with limited financial resources, providing a more accessible route to owning a home. EPC B
