St. Ternans, Thornhill Road, Forres, IV36 1LW

This is the kind of home that doesn’t come along often.

A substantial Victorian property set within a popular Moray town, offering an impressive amount of space across both floors, with period character running throughout and the flexibility to shape the rooms around how you want to live.

With six bedrooms, three main reception rooms and a large kitchen at its heart, it’s a home that comfortably handles family life while still feeling full of character.

From the moment you step through the entrance vestibule and into the hallway, the scale of the house becomes clear.

High ceilings, timber detailing and the sense of space set the tone straight away, and that continues as you move through the ground floor.

The lounge sits to the front of the home and is a room that immediately stands out.

A large bay window framed with timber detailing draws in natural light, while the two tone wall finish, decorative cornicing and marble fireplace with tiled insets all combine to give the room a strong period feel.

It’s a space that feels both elegant and comfortable, with more than enough room for a full furniture setup.

Alongside this, the family room is another generous area for the family to enjoy, currently set up with both sofas and a dining table and chairs.

The bay window here mirrors the lounge, again filling the room with light, while the timber fire surround and gas fireplace create a natural focal point. Wooden flooring runs throughout.

The size of the room makes it easy to see it working as the main day to day living space.

The music room provides yet another option, and this is where the flexibility of the house really comes into its own.

With tall timber framed windows, a gas fireplace and a softer decorative finish, it’s a room that could just as easily be a home office, studio, additional sitting room or hobby space.

The kitchen is beautifully designed with light coloured cabinets, paired with black marble effect worktops. The layout runs across multiple walls to give you plenty of storage and preparation space.

A double AEG oven is built into a tall unit, with an AEG hob set into the worktop with a mirrored splashback behind, reflecting light back into the room.

On the opposite wall, another run of units houses the sink, with under cabinet lighting adding a practical touch.

A tall window draws in light, and additional units beneath it extend the workspace further. The room is finished with wooden flooring and soft blue painted walls, giving it a calm feel.

Just off the kitchen, the utility room adds another layer of practicality, with additional cabinets, worktops and a second sink, along with space for laundry appliances.

It keeps the main kitchen free for cooking and daily use without becoming cluttered. The ground floor also includes a shower room, designed with practicality in mind.

Wetwall panels line the space, keeping it easy to maintain, while the large walk-in enclosure is fitted with a rainfall shower that adds a more comfortable, modern touch.

Alongside this, there is a separate WC, finished with timber detailing and panelled walls.

It’s a useful addition in a home of this scale, helping to keep the main facilities free while adding convenience for everyday use.

Upstairs, the sense of space continues, with a split-level landing leading to the bedrooms and additional facilities. The first two bedrooms sit off the half landing.

Bedroom one is a large double with multiple windows along one wall, bringing in plenty of natural light and giving the room a bright, open feel.

There’s space here for a full bedroom setup without compromise. Bedroom two is another double, finished in neutral tones with timber detailing that ties in with the character of the home.

Across the landing, the shower room is well set up for daily use, with a large vanity unit offering extensive storage, a walk-in shower with rainfall head and wetwall panels lining the space.

Also on this side of the landing is another separate WC which adds further convenience, particularly in a home of this size.

The remaining bedrooms continue to build on the space and flexibility the property offers. Bedroom three is a particularly impressive room.

The large bay window immediately draws your attention, while an additional side window adds even more natural light.

The walls are finished in a mix of clean neutral tones with a deeper, husky coloured feature wall that adds depth without overwhelming the space. Bedroom four is another generous double.

The walls are finished in a muted grey, with one bold red feature wall adding a bit of personality and contrast.

Decorative white cornicing frames the ceiling, while the large timber skirting boards tie back into the period detailing found throughout the home. The room is finished with a light coloured carpet.

Bedroom five shows just how flexible the layout can be. Currently set up as a home gym, it still works perfectly well as a double bedroom if needed.

The space is finished with neutral walls and dark wooden flooring, with a tall window bringing in natural light.

The sixth room, currently used as a dressing room, is a particularly practical addition.

Built-in storage runs across three walls, offering a huge amount of space for clothing without the need for additional furniture.

A window keeps the room naturally lit, and the light grey carpet keeps it in line with the rest of the upper floor.

While it works brilliantly as a dressing room, the size and layout mean it could just as easily be used as an additional bedroom if required.

Outside, the grounds wrap around the property, offering a mix of lawn, planting and paved areas.

The rear garden provides a space to enjoy, with mature trees, shrubs and flowerbeds bringing colour and privacy.

A paved pathway leads through to a detached garden room at the far end, a fully powered space with a pitched ceiling, wooden flooring and neutral décor.

It’s easy to picture this as a home office, studio, garden bar or simply a place to sit and unwind away from the main house.

With its combination of period detail, generous room sizes and the sheer amount of flexible space on offer, this is a home that can adapt to your family life.
