The Building Designed in 1933 by Frederick Gibberd, Pullman Court is a celebrated Grade II*-listed development and a pioneering example of modernist architecture in Britain.

Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, its geometric façades and projecting balconies remain among the most recognisable expressions of this period of architecture in London.

Conceptualised with an unusually ambitious range of amenities, including landscaped gardens, roof terraces and a swimming pool, Pullman Court embodied a progressive vision of modern urban living.

Nearly a century later, it remains one of the country’s most important twentieth-century residential buildings and a reflection on apartment design.

The Tour A first impression of the apartment’s design-led consideration is made by its access off the third-floor lobby, softly distanced from its neighbour by a communal corridor.

From the entrance, a hallway opens on its left to a wonderfully light and spacious living room.

New linoleum flooring has been reinstated with faithful reference to the original material palette and is set against walls painted in a chalky powder blue.

Light enters through a corner window and is amplified by clean lines and simple white surfaces.

The primary plan places the kitchen, the bathroom, and the second bedroom to the left of the corridor, while the principal bedroom occupies the full width of the apartment at the far end.

The kitchen has been thoughtfully configured to make full use of its compact, almost galley-like, footprint.

Rich green walls are paired with pale cabinets that have been efficiently arranged along one wall, and elegant finishings showcase a meticulous attention to detail.

The bathroom is adjacent and is in keeping with the green-blue accents of the surrounding rooms; foliage-themed tiles enclose the bath and dark tiles lie beneath.

Beyond are the two bedrooms, both fabulously bright from the natural light that floods through the west-facing windows.

The larger of the two dedicates one wall to convenient storage units, while the second is compact and versatile, providing a useful ancillary space for guests or peaceful workspace.

The development offers many advantages to its residents including free parking, fibre-optic broadband, and a staffed, full-service, laundry facility.

Outdoor Space Pullman Court is set within generous landscaped grounds, a defining feature of Frederick Gibberd's original design.

Mature trees and established planting surround the three blocks, creating a setting that softens the building's striking modernist forms.

Residents also have access to a communal roof terrace, where far-reaching views extend across south London.

The Area Streatham Hill occupies a well-connected corner of south London, known for its independent cafés, restaurants and green spaces.

The apartment is within easy reach of Tooting Bec Common and Brockwell Park, the latter a 50.8-hectare park comprising a network of ponds, trees (including ancient oaks), a walled 'Old English' flower garden and wide, open meadows.

It also features the popular Brockwell Lido, as well as a café and tennis courts. The neighbourhood has a growing collection of independent cafés and restaurants.

Local favourites include café and bakery Batch & Co and neighbourhood wine bar Streatham Wine House.

There are several highly regarded schools nearby, including Streatham Wells Primary School and Streatham & Clapham High School (Nursery and Prep School).

Dulwich Village nearby is home to some of the most highly reputed independent schools in south-east London, including Dulwich College, James Allen's Girls' School, and Alleyn's School.
