Cefn View, Began Road, Cardiff, CF3 6XL

A charming and thoughtfully extended country cottage combining character, space and a peaceful semi-rural setting.

Description Cefn View is a beautifully extended period cottage situated along the highly regarded Began Road, on the edge of Old St Mellons, enjoying a delightful semi-rural setting whilst remaining within approximately 20 minutes’ drive of Cardiff city centre.

Originally forming part of a pair of nineteenth century farmworkers’ cottages associated with the Cefn Mably estate, the property has been thoughtfully enlarged to create a well-balanced and versatile family home.

The accommodation blends traditional character with more contemporary elements, with exposed beams, fireplaces and natural materials complemented by light-filled living spaces.

The property is entered via an entrance hall which leads through to the principal reception rooms.

The living room is a generous and comfortable space, centred around a feature fireplace with wood burning stove, while the dining room lies to the rear and provides an elegant setting for entertaining, with French doors opening directly on to the garden and terrace.

The kitchen/breakfast room forms the heart of the home and is arranged as a spacious open-plan area, designed for modern family living.

Fitted with bespoke cabinetry beneath granite worktops and incorporating a Belfast sink and range-style cooker, the room benefits from a dual aspect together with rooflights and French doors, allowing for excellent natural light throughout.

A utility room is positioned off the kitchen, providing additional storage and space for appliances, while a ground floor bathroom and separate WC add further practicality.

On the first floor, the principal bedroom is well proportioned and served by an en suite bathroom.

Three further bedrooms are arranged from the landing and are complemented by a family bathroom, offering flexible accommodation suited to family life or guests.

Externally, the property is approached via a gravelled driveway, providing ample parking and leading to a detached double garage.

The house sits comfortably within its plot, with gardens and grounds extending to approximately one third of an acre.

The frontage is particularly attractive, with the cottage elevation combining stone and rendered finishes, softened by climbing planting and well-tended borders, creating a welcoming first impression.

The gardens are enclosed by mature hedging and established trees, affording a good degree of privacy, and are predominantly laid to lawn with a variety of shrubs and planting.

To the rear, a paved courtyard terrace provides an excellent space for outdoor dining and entertaining, enjoying a sheltered aspect and direct access from both the dining room and kitchen/breakfast room.

The surrounding countryside offers a peaceful backdrop, further enhancing the appeal of this charming and well-located home.
