St. Michaels, The Cross, Stonehouse, GL10 3TU

St Michaels is a particularly appealing detached family home, individually built and occupying a wonderfully central position within the sought-after village of Nympsfield.

Set within beautifully established and lovingly tended gardens, the property enjoys an open outlook across the adjoining countryside and offers a rare combination of space, versatility and tranquillity.

Cherished by the same family since the mid-1980s, St Michaels has been thoughtfully improved and extended over the years to create a generous and adaptable home, ideally suited to modern family life.

Upon entering, an enclosed porch leads into a spacious reception hall, with exposed floorboards and a staircase rising to the first floor.

The large lounge/dining room provides a wonderful heart to the home, with exposed Cotswold stone fireplace with wood-burning stove creating an inviting focal point.

French doors open into the conservatory, allowing natural light to flow through and providing a lovely connection with the gardens beyond. The ground floor also offers excellent flexibility.

The fourth bedroom is currently used as a comfortable snug, although it could equally serve as a bedroom, playroom or additional reception space.

The fitted kitchen has sufficient space for a small dining table and leads through to an inner hallway, which provides access to the study and ground-floor shower room.

Upstairs are three further bedrooms, including a particularly impressive principal bedroom enjoying far-reaching views across the open fields. The room also benefits from plentiful eaves storage.

There is a further generous double bedroom, again with useful eaves storage, while the third bedroom features a large skylight window, additional eaves storage and an adjoining dressing room.

A family bathroom completes the first-floor accommodation. Outside, the gardens are a real highlight of St Michaels.

Approached through a five-bar gate, the long driveway provides generous parking and leads to the detached double garage.

The level gardens wrap around the house and have been carefully established over many years, creating a wonderfully mature and private setting.

The gardens include areas of lawn, beautifully stocked and established flower borders, vegetable beds, mature trees and a wildlife pond.

There are numerous areas in which to sit, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

For those who enjoy outdoor entertaining, there is a timber deck, substantial patio and adjoining composite decking area, providing a choice of spaces for summer gatherings, family meals or simply relaxing and enjoying the gardens.

There is also plenty of room for children to play, making the outside space particularly well suited to family life.

A more recent addition is the timber-clad garden room, which provides an exceptionally versatile space.

Perfectly suited to a home office, studio, hobby room or entertaining space, it adds another valuable dimension to the property.

A Wonderful Family Home, St Michaels is a rare opportunity to acquire an individual detached home in one of the area’s most desirable village locations.

Nympsfield is a picturesque and highly regarded village set high on the Cotswold escarpment, surrounded by beautiful open countryside and enjoying some wonderful views across the Severn Vale.

Located approximately four miles south-west of Stroud, the village offers an appealing combination of rural tranquillity, strong community spirit and convenient access to a number of well-regarded towns and villages.

The village itself has a distinctive character, with a mix of traditional properties, open spaces and attractive countryside surrounding the settlement.

There is a well-established local community, with a primary school, churches, village hall and village club, together with the community village pub.

The area is particularly popular with those who enjoy walking and the outdoors, with an extensive network of footpaths and countryside walks on the doorstep.

One of the area’s particular attractions is Coaley Peak, just a short distance from the village.

This beautiful Cotswold viewpoint provides spectacular views across the Severn Vale towards the Forest of Dean and is crossed by the Cotswold Way.

The historic Nympsfield Long Barrow is also located here, adding to the area’s considerable character and historical interest.

Nearby Woodchester Park, with its lakes, woodland and historic Woodchester Mansion, provides another wonderful destination for walking and enjoying the surrounding countryside.

The park is located close to Nympsfield and offers a peaceful landscape of woodland, water and open countryside.

For everyday amenities, the nearby towns of Nailsworth, Stroud and Dursley provide a wider selection of independent shops, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and other services.

Stroud is particularly well known for its independent shopping, vibrant Saturday farmers’ market and mainline railway station, providing services towards London and other major centres.

Despite its rural setting, Nympsfield is well placed for access to the wider region, with road links providing convenient connections towards Stroud, Dursley, Gloucester, Bristol and the M5.

This combination of countryside, community and accessibility makes Nympsfield an increasingly sought-after location for those looking for a village lifestyle within easy reach.
