The Turret, Wylam, NE41 8JG

Accommodation in Brief Entrance Hallway | Principal Bedroom with En-Suite Shower Room | Second Ground Floor Bedroom | Bathroom | Sitting Room | Kitchen | Turret Staircase Driveway | Parking | Communal Gardens & Woodland | Gated Access to Wylam Railway Station The Property Occupying one of the most distinctive positions within the former Wylam Manor, The Turret forms part of an impressive Victorian country house designed in 1878 by the renowned Newcastle architect Archibald Dunn as his family home.

Today known as Castle Hill House, the building enjoys a remarkable setting within approximately 23 acres of private gated grounds, encompassing manicured lawns, mature woodland and beautifully maintained communal gardens.

Rich in architectural character and historical significance, The Turret offers an unusual and highly individual arrangement of accommodation extending across two floors.

The property retains many of the distinctive features associated with its Victorian origins, while thoughtful modernisation has created a comfortable and practical home ideally suited to contemporary living.

The accommodation is approached via two private entrances, one leading into the welcoming entrance hall and the other through the property's namesake turret, where a striking spiral staircase rises to the principal living accommodation above.

The ground floor is dedicated primarily to the bedroom accommodation, comprising two generous double bedrooms and a well-appointed family bathroom.

The principal bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower room and direct access outside through glazed doors, creating a pleasant connection with the surrounding grounds.

A useful understairs cupboard provides additional storage. Ascending to the first floor, the character of the property becomes particularly apparent.

The impressive open-plan sitting and dining room offers excellent proportions for both everyday living and entertaining, while the adjacent turret staircase provides a memorable architectural focal point.

Large windows draw natural light into the space and frame attractive views across the surrounding grounds.

A separate kitchen is well equipped and thoughtfully arranged, complementing the sociable layout of the living accommodation.

Throughout, tasteful decoration and feature fireplaces enhance the property's sense of character and individuality.

Externally Castle Hill House is approached through an impressive pillared entrance with secure intercom access, beyond which a sweeping driveway winds through mature woodland before arriving at the house.

The grounds extend to approximately 23 acres and comprise a beautiful collection of formal lawns, mature woodland and secluded garden spaces, including a charming secret garden.

Seasonal displays of rhododendrons and established specimen trees contribute significantly to the character of the setting.

A particular advantage of the location is the private gated footpath leading directly from the grounds to Wylam railway station, providing convenient rail links to Newcastle, Hexham and Carlisle.

The Turret benefits from access to a communal courtyard garden together with two allocated parking spaces and additional visitor parking, all within the security of this highly regarded gated development.
