Rumwell Cottages, Taunton, TA4 1EL

A rare opportunity to acquire this charming two double bedroom period cottage, which has been tastefully styled and restored by the current owners, occupying a lovely rural position with no onward chain.

The cottage is Grade II listed, likely dating back to 1912, and has been in the care of the current owners since 2014.

You enter through the front door into the hall, with stairs to the first floor and a door opening to the principal reception room.

The living room is situated to the front of the cottage and has the lovely, large original window to the front aspect, allowing for lots of natural light.

There is a red brick fireplace with an inset wood burning stove, giving the room a natural focal point. There is also an under stairs cupboard and a door opening to the kitchen diner beyond.

The Owners Love - The current owners have loved the rural setting and country lifestyle the cottage provides. They particularly love “the beautiful character features of this cottage.

It is like stepping back in time but with the conveniences of modern living” which has made the lifestyle of country living really enjoyable.

They have also really enjoyed the cosy cottage feeling during the winter months with the fire roaring away and making the most of the various outdoor areas throughout the summer.

The kitchen diner is located at the rear of the cottage and is fitted with a variety of farmhouse style units with oak work surfaces over and an inset Belfast sink with mixer tap.

There is underfloor heating and a space for a range style cooker, fridge/freezer, and an integrated dishwasher.

A door opens to the utility room, fitted with additional units and oak work surfaces over, a second Belfast style sink and space/plumbing for a washing machine.

Doors open to the downstairs WC and to the rear courtyard. Upstairs, on the first-floor landing, doors open to the bedrooms.

Both rooms are good sizes, with the master being a particularly good size and again have the original window to the front aspect.

There are also two built in wardrobes, a feature fireplace, and a shower cubicle. The second bedroom again has an original fireplace and a window to the rear aspect.

The bathroom has under floor heating and is fitted with a three-piece suite including L-shape bath with shower over, WC & washbasin.

George Loves - “I love the original features and characterful charm this property has! The moment I came through that front gate and approached the front door, I fell in love!

This is ideal for a couple, family or even an investor who perhaps wants to do Air B&B/Holiday lets. The rural location for me is the biggest selling point, however.

These types of country cottages so rarely come up for sale, especially in such good condition, and it's clear to see why.

Be quick, this one won’t hang around!” Outside, to the front of the cottage, there is a charming gate, with a pathway leading to the front door and a small front garden which could perhaps be utilised as a vegetable patch.

To the rear of the property there is initially a small courtyard area.

From here, a communal path takes you along to the rear garden, where there are steps leading up to a raised garden, which is laid predominantly to lawn, with a picket fence, large shed, and patio seating area with a lovely outlook across the fields beyond.
