Ambrose Place, Worthing, BN11 1PZ

Jacobs Steel is delighted to present this exceptional Regency townhouse, an architectural gem occupying a distinguished position on Worthing's prestigious Ambrose Place — widely regarded as one of the town's most elegant and architecturally significant addresses.

Beautifully renovated and thoughtfully reimagined for modern living, this remarkable home represents a wonderful marriage of Regency grandeur and contemporary sophistication, offering an abundance of character, beautifully considered interiors and exceptionally versatile accommodation.

Behind its handsome period façade lies a home of considerable individuality, where elegant proportions, impressive ceiling heights and an array of original architectural features sit effortlessly alongside carefully selected contemporary finishes.

The current owners have undertaken an extensive programme of renovation and improvement, creating interiors that are both stylish and inviting, with a refined yet wonderfully comfortable atmosphere throughout.

Arranged over four floors, the accommodation includes four bedrooms within the principal house, beautifully appointed reception and entertaining spaces, two bathrooms serving the main accommodation and a separate lower ground floor apartment.

A magnificent first-floor balcony, delightful established rear garden and the valuable addition of a garage further enhance the appeal of this exceptional home.

Upon entering, the house immediately reveals its architectural pedigree.

An elegant entrance hallway and impressive staircase establish a wonderful sense of arrival, while the retained period detailing provides an immediate reminder of the property's Regency heritage.

The principal reception room is a particularly beautiful space, where generous proportions and natural light combine to create an atmosphere of understated elegance.

Deep sash windows, exposed timber floorboards, decorative cornicing and an attractive period-style fireplace provide a wealth of character, while the carefully considered interior decoration introduces a more contemporary sensibility.

The result is a room that feels both sophisticated and wonderfully welcoming.

To the rear, the kitchen has been thoughtfully designed with a striking combination of cabinetry, contrasting finishes, brass detailing and distinctive patterned flooring.

Both practical and aesthetically appealing, it reflects the attention to detail evident throughout the renovation.

The adjoining glazed dining room is another particularly attractive feature, providing a wonderfully light-filled setting for everyday dining and entertaining, with delightful views across the established rear garden.

A rear lobby and useful utility accommodation complete this level. The first floor continues to impress, with two beautifully proportioned bedrooms and two individually styled bathrooms.

The principal bedroom is an especially elegant room, extending across much of the width of the house and enjoying a wonderful sense of light and space.

French doors open onto a magnificent full-width balcony, complete with decorative woodwork and an ornate canopy above.

This charming architectural feature is undoubtedly one of the home's defining characteristics, offering an elevated outlook across the handsome Regency surroundings of Ambrose Place and a delightful place to enjoy the coastal air.

The bathrooms have been carefully updated, combining contemporary sanitaryware and thoughtfully chosen finishes with the character of the original building, creating spaces that are both stylish and practical.

The upper floor provides two further bedrooms, each offering excellent flexibility for family members, visiting guests or those seeking a dedicated home office.

The accommodation throughout has been carefully considered to suit the demands of modern living without detracting from the original character of the house.

Of particular note is the separate lower ground floor apartment, an increasingly valuable and versatile feature in a property of this nature.

Benefiting from its own independent entrance, the apartment incorporates a bedroom, reception area, kitchen and bathroom, providing genuinely self-contained accommodation.

Whether required for multi-generational living, older children, extended family or visiting guests, this independent space adds a further dimension to the home's appeal.

Throughout the property, the renovation has been undertaken with a clear appreciation of its architectural origins.

Contemporary colours, carefully selected materials and modern fittings complement rather than compete with the Regency detailing, while the installation of a new heating system provides an important practical enhancement.

The property's handsome façade forms part of the distinguished architectural composition for which Ambrose Place is so highly regarded.

Its elegant Regency proportions and period detailing contribute to the enduring appeal of this historic terrace, creating an impressive first impression.

To the rear, the garden is a particularly delightful surprise.

Beautifully established and wonderfully private, it provides a tranquil retreat from the bustle of everyday life, despite the home's central location.

Mature shrubs, architectural palms and an abundance of established planting create an almost Mediterranean atmosphere, with a rich variety of greenery providing colour, texture and interest.

Paved seating areas offer inviting spaces for outdoor dining, entertaining or simply relaxing, while the garden's informal and established character provides a charming contrast to the architectural formality of the house.

The glazed dining room enjoys a particularly attractive connection with this outdoor space, allowing the garden to become an integral part of the living environment.

The property also benefits from a garage and ancillary accommodation, valuable additions in such a central and historic setting.

Ambrose Place is synonymous with refined coastal living and remains one of Worthing's most distinguished residential addresses.

Celebrated for its handsome Regency architecture, elegant terraces and individual period homes, it offers a wonderful sense of history and architectural character rarely found in more modern residential settings.

Despite its peaceful and established surroundings, the location is exceptionally convenient.

Worthing's vibrant town centre is within easy reach, offering an excellent selection of independent boutiques, cafés, restaurants, theatres and everyday amenities, while the seafront and promenade are just a short stroll away.

The coastline provides a wonderful backdrop to daily life, with extensive walks along the promenade, open beaches and attractive green spaces contributing to the relaxed lifestyle for which this part of West Sussex is so highly regarded.

Worthing's mainline railway station provides regular services along the south coast and direct connections to London, while excellent road links offer convenient access to Brighton, Chichester, Gatwick and the wider South East.

Altogether, this is a home of genuine architectural distinction — a beautifully renovated Regency residence where the elegance of the past has been thoughtfully brought into the present.

With its exceptional character, stylish contemporary interiors, independent apartment and delightful garden, it offers a rare combination of period grandeur, individuality and modern versatility in one of Worthing's most desirable addresses.
