Jp Brampton presents... Freehold stable conversion situated in the gated grounds of a former Rothschild's built Manor House located in the charming Buckinghamshire village of Wingrave.

The property This freehold stable conversion is located within the grounds of what was formerly The Old Manor House.

Mount Tabor House & Stables is a Grade II listed building and stables which are steeped in history and date back to the 1870's when built for Hannah de Rothschild to enjoy her equestrian passions.

The name changed to Mount Tabor House after wwii when the nuns of the Order of St Mary of the Cross took it over.

It was gifted to the Order of St Mary of the Cross in 1946 and became a home for youngsters with learning disabilities. It was subsequently a school until its conversion in 2006.

Today we find a unique opportunity to own a slice of this history and to enjoy the architecture and grounds afforded to a grand country manor without the upkeep.

Access to the property is granted through cast iron electric gates providing both privacy and security. A sweeping driveway leads to the main building and beyond to the Stables.

It is here where you start to appreciate the wondrous views, where in the distance you can see the famous Whipsnade Lion and Ivinghoe Beacon to name but a few.

The property itself boasts many original architectural features — exposed timbers, characterful brickwork and soaring ceilings, lending warmth and authenticity throughout.

On entering there is a spacious hallway with access to a downstairs WC and large storage cupboard.

The ground floor unfolds into an impressive open-plan living environment, thoughtfully zoned to create distinct areas for dining, cooking and relaxation while retaining a wonderful sense of space and flow.

French doors draw natural light deep into the interior and open onto the private garden, creating an easy transition between indoors and out — ideal for both entertaining and quieter moments of retreat.

Upstairs, the charm continues. Vaulted ceilings and exposed beams lend texture and individuality to each room.

The principal bedroom is a calm and generous sanctuary, complemented by a stylish en suite shower room.

A second bedroom offers flexibility for guests, a dressing room or home office, served by a beautifully appointed family bathroom with a distinctive bath design that adds architectural interest.

Beyond the house itself, the setting is truly special.

Residents enjoy access to expansive communal grounds including an orchard, areas of woodland and sweeping lawns with far-reaching countryside views — a rare privilege that enhances the sense of space and tranquillity.

The property also benefits from its own private rear garden, thoughtfully landscaped for low maintenance and outdoor enjoyment, as well as two allocated parking spaces and additional visitor parking.

A simply stunning home, whether it's as a first time buy, a downsize move, or as a bolt-hole. But please do not just take my word for it.
