Beach Street, Deal, CT14 6HY

This fascinating Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse is located along Deal seafront, opposite the pier with uninterrupted sea views, but less than a minute's walk from the town centre.

It also includes an attached cottage at the rear, accessed via the adjacent alleyway. Originally built in 1726, the house is full of period features such as sash windows, exposed beams and fireplaces.

The front door opens directly into the spacious and characterful lounge/diner with beams, wood flooring and two brick fireplaces including one with a log burner.

There are stairs to the first floor, steps down to the cellar, fitted cupboards and an archway to the kitchen with its range cooker, units with stand-alone appliances and a large hatch to the dining area.

There is a cloakroom and French doors to a partially covered courtyard that includes a cast iron fireplace, a utility and boiler cupboard, storage facilities, a period rear door to the alleyway for access to the annexe and steps up to a covered and decked balustraded balcony.

The large brick cellar could be converted into a cinema, games room or offices, subject to the appropriate planning permissions.

Off the first floor galleried landing there is the main bedroom with a feature brick wall and fireplace, access to the balcony, built in wardrobes, an ensuite bathroom and an airing cupboard.

There is a large double bedroom, currently used as a study, with two sash windows providing superb views of the pier and the sea.

Stairs lead up to the second floor galleried landing with loft access and a shower room servicing two double bedrooms including one with far reaching sea views.

The adjacent annexe includes a hallway with a built in pine cupboard, access to the living room and an archway to the kitchen that has units and stand-alone appliances.

The living room has half height panelling, a painted beam ceiling, sash windows and pine stairs to the fabulous first floor annexe bedroom with a vaulted and beamed ceiling and an ensuite shower room.

What the Owner says: I have actually lived in Deal for over half a century and in this charming house for many years but I now feel it is time to downsize.

I have always loved the town with its quaint streets, period properties, excellent restaurants, independent shops, the Saturday market and the historic pier.

Indeed, living opposite the pier I enjoy watching the people passing by and the activities on the pier.

There are plenty of local sports clubs including two golf clubs and Outstanding primary schools, while excellent grammar and private schools are available in the surrounding towns and easily accessed by train.

You can walk to the station where the fast train can whisk you to London in under an hour and a half and it is not far to Dover and the Channel Tunnel.
