7, Scholar Place, Oxford, OX2 9RD

7 Scholar Place offers a rare combination of scale, privacy, thoughtful design and beautifully presented gardens, all within easy reach of Oxford’s schools, green spaces and city centre.

Approached through elegant electric gates and framed by seasonal planting and flower-filled borders, the house makes a quietly impressive first impression.

A broad block-paved driveway and mature landscaping create a refined sense of arrival, with a feeling of calm and privacy that continues throughout the home.

The current owners were drawn to the property by its generous proportions, attractive neighbourhood and garden setting.

Over the past several years, they have undertaken an extensive programme of renovation, remodelling and improvement, creating a home that feels elegant, cohesive and exceptionally comfortable for modern family life.

The sense of arrival is immediate. A dramatic entrance foyer rises through the heart of the house, drawing the eye upwards past the staircase and gallery landing towards the rooflights above.

Natural light filters down through this impressive vertical space, while a statement chandelier provides a glamorous focal point and reinforces the home’s sense of scale, light and occasion.

It is a memorable introduction to the property. Across the ground floor, the accommodation has been carefully considered to support both everyday living and entertaining.

Hardwood flooring flows through the principal reception areas, while underfloor heating in the entrance hall and kitchen adds comfort and refinement.

The kitchen forms the natural centre of the home: a generous, sociable space designed for cooking, gathering and relaxed family life.

Installed as part of the wider renovation, the kitchen combines contemporary cabinetry, quartz worktops and a substantial island incorporating an induction hob and wine cooler.

Rangemaster appliances sit alongside integrated refrigeration, dishwasher facilities and water filtration systems, while glazed doors open directly onto the patio and garden, creating an effortless connection between indoor and outdoor living.

Beyond the kitchen, the house offers a series of flexible reception and living spaces, well suited to entertaining, home working, fitness, music, family time or quieter daily routines.

The layout has been thoughtfully adapted so that the house can evolve with the needs of its next owners. The first floor is centred around an exceptional principal bedroom suite.

Created by combining two original rooms, it offers a generous and luxurious private retreat, complete with dedicated dressing areas and a Juliet balcony overlooking the rear garden.

The en-suite bathroom has been designed with comfort and indulgence in mind, featuring a spa bath, twin vanity areas, mirrored wardrobe and high-quality fittings.

Two further bedrooms on this level enjoy attractive garden outlooks and excellent natural light.

A significant part of the home’s transformation has been the creation of the second-floor accommodation.

Completed in 2021, the loft conversion provides two additional en-suite bedrooms connected by a central landing area, which works beautifully as a reading space, study area or informal family sitting room.

Velux windows bring light deep into the floor, while views towards the sky, surrounding rooftops and distant countryside create a calm sense of separation from the levels below.

7 Scholar Place offers highly versatile accommodation, ideal for family living, multi-generational use, older children seeking independence, long-stay guests or dedicated work-from-home arrangements.

Outside, the rear garden plays an important part in the lifestyle of the house.

Generously sized and carefully planted, it includes lawn, mature shrubs, flowering borders, cherry trees and David Austin roses, providing structure, colour and seasonal interest throughout the year.

A large porcelain terrace sits directly off the kitchen, creating an inviting space for outdoor dining and entertaining, while a remote-controlled awning provides shade and comfort during the warmer months.

To the front, electric wrought-iron gates open onto extensive driveway parking for multiple vehicles.

The finished garage, additional storage, smart security systems and thoughtfully integrated exterior lighting all reflect the same attention to detail found throughout the interior.

Scholar Place enjoys a particularly convenient position for both Oxford and the surrounding countryside.

Nearby green spaces include The Hurst, Port Meadow, Wytham Woods, the Thames Path and Oxford’s canal and riverside walks.

There are also a number of well-regarded pubs, restaurants and local amenities within easy reach.

Matthew Arnold School is within walking distance, while many of Oxford’s leading independent schools are also easily accessible.

The result is a beautifully improved and much-loved family home, offering space, privacy, comfort and a strong sense of arrival.

Considerable care and investment have gone into creating a property that feels both impressive and highly liveable, ready for its next owners to enjoy.
