Welcome home to Barugh Cottages… Set within one of the most idyllic corners of the Eden Valley, 2 Barugh Cottages is a truly enchanting three-bedroom mid terrace country cottage surrounded by rolling countryside, winding lanes, dry stone walls and uninterrupted pastoral beauty.

Positioned within the charming rural hamlet of Dale, near the sought after village of Ainstable, the property feels wonderfully peaceful and secluded, yet remains within convenient reach of Penrith and the amenities of nearby Kirkoswald and Armathwaite.

From the moment of arrival, the cottage immediately captures the imagination.

Smart white rendered elevations are complemented by sage green fencing, mature planting and a charming wrought iron gate adorned with a horseshoe motif.

A red shingle pathway meanders through established cottage gardens bursting with seasonal colour, bordered by sandstone walls, wilding areas and carefully considered planting, creating a setting which feels both timeless and deeply calming.

A beautifully appointed composite entrance door opens into a welcoming porch where the most stunning sealed Indian sandstone flooring flows seamlessly throughout the entire ground floor.

Thoughtfully designed with country living in mind, there is ample space for muddy boots and outdoor wear after walks through the surrounding countryside.

The lounge is an exceptionally warm and inviting space, filled with natural light from dual aspect glazing and elegant double patio doors which open directly onto the south east facing front terrace.

At the heart of the room sits a striking red brick chimney breast with a substantial oak mantle and a charming log burning stove resting upon a brick hearth, creating a wonderfully cosy focal point for family evenings and winter gatherings.

Glazed internal doors lead beautifully through to the kitchen diner, where the breathtaking west facing views truly take centre stage.

Framed by mature trees, grazing horses, rolling hills and traditional dry stone walls, the outlook feels almost storybook in nature.

The neighbouring smallholding adds even further charm, with horses and goats often visible from the windows, creating a setting which feels peaceful, authentic and wonderfully rural.

The kitchen itself has been thoughtfully curated in a timeless country style, featuring handcrafted freestanding solid oak cabinetry painted in rich heritage tones and topped with solid oak work surfaces.

Distinctive Victorian inspired hardware enhances the character further, whilst the traditional Belfast sink, open shelving and feature four oven oil fired Rayburn combine practicality with unmistakable charm.

There is ample space for a large family dining table, making this the true heart of the home.

Beyond the kitchen lies a highly practical utility room with space for an American style fridge freezer, plumbing for additional appliances and excellent overhead storage.

A useful downstairs WC and an impressive pantry space completes the ground floor accommodation.

To the first floor, a soft neutral staircase rises to three beautifully presented bedrooms and a luxurious family bathroom.

The bathroom has been designed with exceptional attention to detail and features earthy Farrow & Ball inspired tones, a freestanding claw foot slipper bath, walk in drench shower with contemporary tiling, heated towel rail and low flush WC perfectly positioned to enjoy the spectacular countryside views beyond.

It is, quite simply, a bathroom with a view.

The principal bedroom is a peaceful retreat with extensive built in storage, exposed architectural beams and magnificent west facing countryside views which capture spectacular sunsets across the surrounding fields.

A dedicated office nook has been cleverly incorporated, making this an ideal space for home working whilst remaining connected to the beauty of the landscape outside.

Bedroom two is another generous double room positioned above the lounge and features the original exposed chimney breast with sandstone lintel, adding wonderful character and architectural interest.

From here, views extend across open fields where horses quietly graze against the backdrop of the Eden Valley countryside.

Bedroom three is a delightful and imaginative single bedroom, perfectly suited for a child’s room, nursery or study.

Cleverly designed storage has created a charming hidden reading nook above the bed space, offering a magical retreat for younger occupants.

Externally, the grounds are every bit as enchanting as the cottage itself.

The gardens have been thoughtfully landscaped to create a series of distinct outdoor spaces including mature lawns, wildflower areas, seating terraces, a large timber deck and a wonderful sunroom perfectly positioned to enjoy the final rays of evening sunshine.

A charming beck follows the landscaping and adds a whimsical feature, creating a magical fairy tale feel within the garden.

Additional outbuildings include a Keter composite shed, substantial wood store and a large workshop, ideal for hobbies, storage or workshop use.

The expansive private driveway provides parking for numerous vehicles and is bordered by mature trees and secure gates, creating a wonderfully secluded setting.

The property further benefits from oil fired central heating, double glazing and private drainage.
