Seller Insight: What is your favourite room of the house and why?

The big open-plan kitchen is our favourite room and the real heart of the house, it's a great social space we have had 16 people for Christmas lunch or 50 people round for drinks.

It also works as a space just sitting in the window reading a book or having a natter with a friend on the sofas. Who do you think would be the next ideal owner?

I think a young family with a few kids would love it, but equally it might suit a family with older children with the benefit of a big space in the garden to enjoy independently.

What do you love most about the house and why?

There are many things I love about this house, its character, its age, the swimming in the summer, the fact that's its south facing, it’s raised up away from the road, so you don't see any cars or people on the road, the view sitting in the garden under the apple tree, watching children playing in the pool while we are having lunch in the sunshine.

Spending the entire day over the other side in the summer and feeling like it’s our own secret garden.

Snuggling round the open fire in the winter and perhaps getting a good bottle of wine from the cellar to share with friends. What do you love about the local community?

It's a very friendly community and we are lucky to have such nice local amenities like the Garden Centre, Sticks and Stones, The Seven Stars (when it re opens next year) a great on demand service, and a community who look out for each other and help.

The village WhatsApp is a goldmine for information and support. Everyone gets involved at seasonal events and joins the village school fetes or fireworks. How easy is it to commute from here?

It is easy to get to most places.

It’s about an hour to Paddington from Pewsey and I travel a great deal around the UK for my work, and thus this location is great for getting around the UK easily with the A303, M3, M5, M4 all nearby and easily to access.

What made you choose this property over others that were available at the time?

We loved the beautiful Georgian face to this house, its secret garden, the endless possibilities for making this your own garden and the space.

The light in the house is very special being south-facing and the garden in the summer is stunning.

Summary An enchanting 18th-century village home set within over half an acre of beautifully established south-facing gardens, combining period character, wonderfully versatile family accommodation and a swimming pool in the heart of the Pewsey Vale.

Set discreetly within the Woodborough Conservation Area, Manor Cottage is a captivating 18th-century village home that has evolved beautifully over the years.

The cottage, which is not listed has been opened up extensively by the current owners.

Period character sits comfortably alongside generous, sociable living spaces, while more than half an acre of private south-facing gardens, a swimming pool and a double garage create an exceptional setting for family life in the Pewsey Vale.

Internal Accommodation At the heart of the house is the impressive spacious, open-plan kitchen, dining and family room, with bay windows overlooking the gardens – a wonderfully sociable space designed for everyday family life as much as entertaining.

This is complemented by a more formal dining room with an open fireplace, while the cellar provides a particularly useful wine store.

Practicality has been considered too, with a generous utility and boot room providing the ideal separate entrance after country walks, particularly for families with children and dogs.

A versatile ground-floor bedroom suite offers excellent guest accommodation but could equally become a substantial home office, playroom or snug.

The sitting room has a more relaxed feel, with an open fire providing a focal point in winter and bi-fold doors opening directly onto a wonderfully secluded terrace during the warmer months.

Upstairs are 4 double bedrooms, the main bedroom benefits from a Jack and Jill ensuite, with an additional family bathroom. Outside The gardens are a particular highlight of Manor Cottage.

Extending to over half an acre and enjoying a predominantly southerly aspect, they have been thoughtfully arranged as a series of distinct spaces, each offering somewhere different to enjoy throughout the day.

Morning coffee can be taken in the charming, gravelled seating area beneath the historic sundial, while the generous terrace adjoining the house provides a wonderfully private setting for long lunches and summer entertaining.

Across the road, a broad expanse of lawn (that used to include a tennis green!) incorporates a productive vegetable garden, greenhouse and swimming pool – all remarkably secluded and surrounded by the greenery of the Wiltshire countryside.

A private driveway and double garage complete the outside space.
