Mill Street, Torrington, EX38 8AW

Located on Mill Street in the popular market town of Great Torrington, this double-fronted house, formerly known as the Canal Inn, is offered for sale brimming with character and history and is believed to date back to the 1650s.

The original part of the property is entered via slate steps leading into the entrance hall, which provides access to both reception rooms.

To the right-hand side is a dual-aspect sitting room featuring a multi-fuel stove set on a slate hearth. To the left is an impressive dining room with wooden flooring.

Both reception rooms benefit from bay windows to the front elevation. Beneath the dining room floor is access to a large cellar (currently blocked).

To the rear of the reception rooms there is a linking passageway with stairs rising to the first floor.

To the rear of the property, the kitchen/breakfast room extension provides a spacious area fitted with a range of base and wall units, incorporating a butler sink and range cooker.

There is also a useful understairs storage cupboard.

Leading from the kitchen is an inner hallway and sunroom which provides access to the utility room, offering space and plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer, along with a WC and wash hand basin.

Within the original part of the property, the first floor comprises three bedrooms and a family bathroom which has recently been renovated and now features a modern three-piece suite including a panelled bath with shower over, WC and wash hand basin.

The two front-facing double bedrooms both benefit from built-in wardrobes.

The modern section of the property, accessed via an oak staircase, leads to the principal bedroom which features exposed ‘A’ frame beams, French doors opening onto a balcony and an ensuite shower room.

The garden is a particular feature of the property. Immediately to the rear is a patio area, ideal for outdoor dining and entertaining, with steps leading up to a predominantly lawned garden.

The garden is arranged across several sections with raised beds, flower and plant borders. Situated within the garden is a summer house with power connected and a storage shed to the rear.

Further up the garden there is also a greenhouse. A private path leads to the garage which has power and light connected, a wood store to the rear and an up-and-over door leading to a parking space.

From here there is direct access onto Torrington Commons. Construction – rendered elevations over stone, with a tiled roof. If walking, leave Webbers office and turn right along South Street.
