A charming and lovingly converted former Baptist chapel, located within a semi-rural setting.

Ty Capel Seion offers generous living accommodation across three storeys Located within the picturesque heart of Denbighshire, Ty Capel Seion is a superb example of a traditional Welsh chapel.

The property’s origins date back to 1840, when it was constructed to serve the local community as a Baptist chapel.

As such, the property is steeped in history and is referenced in George Borrow’s book Wild Wales, published in 1862.

The property was converted in the 1980s into a residential dwelling, with recent modifications completed by the current owner, with careful care and attention made to preserve the original character and architecture of the building, while at the same time, providing a modern finish.

Ground floor • The front door opens into a welcoming entrance hall, with a quarry tiled finish. Immediately to the right-hand side is a WC, which also acts as a utility and boiler room.

• A set of steps rise to the main inner hall, a doorway to the left opens into a cozy snug, which enjoys an imposing stone chimney with an open fireplace, with a further feature one of the original chapel windows.

A doorway within the snug opens into an L-shape conservatory, which overlooks the rear garden.

• Returning to the inner hall, a doorway to the right opens into the kitchen, which is fitted with a range of floor and wall mounted cabinets under wood grain effect work surfaces.

A feature stone fire surround with an inset brown enamelled Rayburn acts as the main feature.

• A set of double doors within the inner hall open into very much the heart of the home, a quite remarkable reception room.

The reception room originally acted as the chapel’s main congregation area and Pulpit.

The room benefits from a lofty raised ceiling and as such, allows the room to be flooded with natural light through four traditional style round top windows.

• The reception room features a plethora of features, including a stone fire surround with inset wood burning stove, mezzanine balcony and pine panelling with pew-style seating.

Given the size of the room, it acts perfectly as the hub of the home, providing ample space as a seating, dining and entertaining area.

First floor • Stairs within the inner hall rise to the first-floor landing. Which predominantly serves the principal bedroom.

The bedroom itself is of ample size to provide space for a large bed and storage solutions.

• Next to the bedroom is the main family bathroom, which has been impressively finished with heritage colours and fitted with a contemporary free-standing bath, separate shower enclosure, vanity basin and WC.

• Finally on the first floor, a set of double doors open onto the mezzanine balcony, overlooking the reception room.

This area is currently utilized as a library area but could easily double as an additional seating area or home office.

Second floor • A further staircase rises to the second floor which provides entry into a further three spacious bedrooms, each with vaulted ceilings and Velux windows.

Also on the second floor is a general store room and a family shower room, servicing the guest bedrooms.

• To the front elevation, is the original chapel graveyard, this area is laid to lawn behind a traditional stone wall.

While the graveyard itself is consecrated land, the graveyard itself is closed to future burials and the existing gravestones can be removed, to make better use of the front garden.

• The property’s main garden is located to the rear and is predominantly laid to lawn, with a section of secluded flagged patio which runs along the exterior of the property.

This provides a private and tranquil setting to enjoy the rural aspect. • From the rear patio, double doors provide entry into a garden storeroom, which has a workshop and an adjoining log store.
