Seller Insight This house had everything we were looking for – plenty of character in a quiet, private location, with a manageable garden and a garage (which was essential for us).
We could see it had the potential to be a lovely home. The location was a big draw too, as we have work and family in Bath, London and Oxford and we were able to reach them all easily from here.
When we renovated, we really wanted to make the most of the original period features while giving it a fresh, modern feel. We uncovered even more character along the way, which was a lovely surprise!
The hardwood floors are one of our favourite features, as is our bedroom - it is bright, spacious and peaceful. This house is comfortable to live in throughout the year.
A great breeze flows through in the summer months, keeping it nice and cool, and in winter it is really cosy.
The living room is such a relaxing space, and the woodburning stove makes it toasty and warm. We have notably reduced our heating bills too! The house is great for entertaining as well.
We have barbecues all year round, and everyone just naturally moves through the house and the garden. We are really lucky to have beautiful woodland walks right at the end of the road.
I think everyone who lives along here appreciates having that on the doorstep, together with Shaw House and Donnington Castle. It is a great balance of rural and town living.
Newbury town centre is a 20-minute walk away (approximately). There are also so many great country pubs just a short drive away. We will definitely miss the house, it has been perfect for us.
We would love someone else to come along and enjoy it as much as we have.
