Church Street, West Stour, SP8 5RL

The current owners of Buttercombe Cottage felt very fortunate to find it a decade ago.

A cottage with so much character and charm, in a small village with excellent facilities that so many lack, and also well situated for larger centers and the coast.

Changing circumstances now mean their stewardship is coming to an end, although they tell us that they will certainly miss so much about it and probably just as much; West Stour and all it has to offer.

It is easy to see why. When you turn off the A30 and into the narrower lane that leads to the cottage and heart of the village, even occasionally pulling over to let horses pass.

The sun bathing the stone façade makes it stand out as you approach.

Step through the porch into the original cottage and it is all you hoped it would be with the stone walls, beams and fireplace, complimented by the equally appealing Dining Room.

Perhaps surprisingly, the Dining Kitchen matches may even exceed your first impression and is possibly the feature room with its partially vaulted ceiling and double doors to the garden.

This is a home that has a degree of flexible accommodation that should suit a variety of purchasing requirements.

To fully appreciate all that it has to offer, the old estate agent vernacular "viewing highly recommended", is certainly appropriate.

West Stour is a bustling village on the North Dorset and West Somerset border, with excellent transportation links, being on the A30 and 5-6 miles from both the A350 and A357.

The London Waterloo line has stations in both Gillingham and Templecombe. Nearby larger centers with a wide range of supermarkets, shops and other facilities are Gillingham and Shaftesbury.

The larger centers of Yeovil and Salisbury are approximately 16 and 26 miles away respectively.
