9, Little Chester Street, London, SW1X 7AL

Having undergone a meticulous, design-led renovation, this elegant Belgravia townhouse has been thoughtfully reimagined to celebrate both its period architecture and contemporary living.

Every intervention has been carefully considered, with bespoke joinery, natural materials and an understated palette creating interiors of quiet sophistication.

The ground floor centres around a bright formal dining room paired with a beautifully detailed bespoke kitchen, finished with warm timber cabinetry, natural stone surfaces and seamlessly integrated appliances.

Full-height glazed screens maximise natural light while maintaining a subtle sense of separation, dividing the marble chequerboard entrance hall from the custom hardwood flooring that extends throughout the principal living spaces.

On the half-landing above, a guest cloakroom sits alongside a private study, discreetly positioned away from the principal entertaining rooms.

The first floor is devoted to a classically proportioned reception room, arranged with two distinct seating areas and bathed in natural light.

Refined contemporary cornicing, tall sash windows and an elegant marble fireplace are complemented by generous ceiling heights, creating a space that is both sophisticated and inviting.

Occupying the second floor, the principal suite has been conceived as a private retreat.

The spacious bedroom is complemented by a beautifully appointed bathroom, where natural stone, bespoke cabinetry and carefully selected fittings create a calm, restorative atmosphere.

A secluded roof terrace, accessed directly from the landing, provides a peaceful outdoor escape overlooking the surrounding Belgravia rooftops.

The lower ground floor accommodates a double bedroom alongside a well-appointed bathroom and separate utility room.

On the half-landing leading to this level, a third bedroom benefits from its own private patio and integrated storage.

Throughout the house, bespoke joinery has been executed with exceptional precision, while concealed storage, finely crafted detailing and a carefully layered palette of timber, stone and muted natural tones create interiors that feel calm, tactile and effortlessly resolved.

The result is an exceptional Belgravia townhouse where historic character and contemporary craftsmanship are brought together with effortless elegance.

Little Chester Street occupies a unique place in Belgravia’s history, representing one of the earliest phases of residential development on the Grosvenor Estate.

The land formed part of the ancient Manor of Ebury, later known as the Five Fields, before passing to the Grosvenor family through the marriage of Sir Thomas Grosvenor and Mary Davies in 1677.

Unlike the grand stucco terraces of Belgrave Square and Eaton Square, which emerged from Thomas Cundy’s masterplan and Thomas Cubitt’s celebrated development in the late 1820s, Little Chester Street was established slightly earlier, retaining the intimate scale and elegant brick architecture of late Georgian London.

Its name reflects the Grosvenor family’s ancestral links to Cheshire, alongside nearby Chester Street, Chester Square and Eaton Square.

Interestingly, when the street was first built, the name “Belgravia” had yet to be adopted; the district only acquired that identity in the mid-nineteenth century.

Today, Little Chester Street stands as a rare reminder of the neighbourhood’s earliest evolution, combining the quiet charm of its Georgian origins with the prestige of one of London’s most distinguished residential enclaves.
