Possibly one of the best views in cornwall!

Set in one of the most captivating locations on the West Cornwall coast, Penanven is a truly exceptional five-bedroom detached residence offering uninterrupted sea views, spacious accommodation and an unparalleled connection to the surrounding landscape.

Perched on the edge of the Cot Valley near the dramatic Cape Cornwall headland, this unique coastal home combines traditional charm with modern comfort in an awe-inspiring setting.

Approached via a quiet country lane just outside the picturesque village of St Just, Penanven sits peacefully at the end of the road, enjoying a rare sense of privacy and seclusion.

The property is granite-built with a rendered finish and is surrounded by generous gardens that provide breathtaking views across the ocean from every principal room.

Whether you're gazing out from a window seat or enjoying a warm evening on the terrace, the ever-changing seascape forms an enchanting backdrop to daily life.

Inside, the home is presented to a high standard across two floors. The ground level features beautifully laid slate tiled flooring throughout, with the comfort of underfloor heating.

The heart of the home is an expansive open-plan living, kitchen and dining space, centred around a striking granite fireplace that houses wood-burning stoves on both sides.

This feature subtly divides the living room, which has a large picture window with a deep window seat looking out to sea, from the kitchen and dining area, where French doors open onto the rear patio.

The kitchen is both stylish and functional, with traditional painted wood cabinetry, granite worktops and a full range of integrated appliances including a double oven, induction hob, warming drawer and built-in fridge.

Just off the kitchen, a spacious utility room offers additional fitted units, an inset sink and ample space for a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and an American-style fridge freezer.

Also on the ground floor is a versatile double bedroom, complete with a charming granite fireplace and wood burner, another inviting window seat with sea views, and access to a Jack and Jill en-suite shower room – ideal for guests or extended family.

Upstairs, the first floor is characterised by varnished timber floorboards and four generously proportioned double bedrooms, each of which enjoys commanding sea views.

The accommodation is supported by a beautifully appointed family bathroom, featuring a bath, separate shower enclosure, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail.

In addition, there is a shower room with a double-width shower enclosure, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail and a further separate washroom with WC and wash basin – all finished with stylish slate tiled flooring.

The gardens at Penanven are as remarkable as the interior.

To the rear, a south-west facing lawn is framed by traditional Cornish hedges and a slate-paved patio – the perfect spot to soak up the afternoon sun and witness glorious sunsets over the Atlantic.

To the side of the house, a further garden area includes a timber storage shed, aluminium greenhouse and a block-built store.

At the foot of the garden, a discreet opening leads out into a wild and beautiful expanse of heathland, with winding paths mown through the heather, offering a serene, almost magical escape just steps from the house.

To the front, a gated driveway currently accommodates a motorhome, while across the lane a detached garage with electric roller shutter door provides further secure storage.

Next to the garage is a large, stone-chipped parking area with space for several vehicles – ideal for visiting family and friends.

Penanven offers a rare chance to own a coastal home of genuine character and quality in a location of extraordinary natural beauty.

Whether you're seeking a full-time residence or a spectacular holiday escape, this is a property that truly must be seen to be fully appreciated.

Agents note: We are informed by the vendors that there is a capped mine shaft located below the front corner of the house.

The vendors hold documentation relating to the remedial works that have been carried out and these can be made available upon request.

The Local Area: Penanven occupies a truly enviable position in West Penwith, one of the most rugged and picturesque corners of Cornwall, renowned for its dramatic coastlines, artistic heritage and rich cultural history.

The nearby village of St Just is a vibrant and welcoming community with a range of independent shops, cafés, galleries, and pubs, as well as a strong sense of identity rooted in its mining past – now recognised as part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape unesco World Heritage Site.

St Just also hosts regular farmers markets, a local theatre and a variety of community events throughout the year.

Just below Penanven lies the Cot Valley, a lush, sub-tropical valley where granite boulders scatter the landscape and a small stream leads down to the rocky cove of Porth Nanven.

Famous for its unique “dinosaur egg” boulders and rich birdlife, Porth Nanven is a favourite among photographers, wild swimmers and nature enthusiasts, offering tranquillity and breathtaking natural beauty at every turn.

A short walk or drive leads to the Cape Cornwall headland, a dramatic promontory that marks the point where the Atlantic Ocean divides between the Irish and English Channels.

Managed by the National Trust, the cape offers spectacular cliff walks, ancient mine ruins, and panoramic views over the Brisons and the open sea.

On a clear day, you can see as far as the Isles of Scilly.

This stretch of the Cornish coast is also a haven for outdoor pursuits, from surfing and kayaking to coastal path hiking and wildlife watching.

The nearby town of Penzance offers broader amenities including supermarkets, schools, and mainline rail connections to London Paddington.

Whether you're seeking a full-time family residence, a luxurious coastal retreat, or a distinctive second home, Penanven represents a rare and remarkable opportunity to experience the very best of Cornwall’s coast and countryside.
