Silverdale Fox Lane, Basingstoke, RG23 7BB

A truly special opportunity in a wonderfully secluded position.

This charming and substantially improved four/five bedroom detached chalet style bungalow occupies an unusually generous plot in a quiet and secluded position at the end of a private lane in the sought after village of Oakley.

Tucked away from passing traffic, with only one neighbouring property continuing along the lane, the setting is exceptionally peaceful and offers a genuine sense of privacy that is increasingly difficult to find.

The property itself is exceptionally well configured, offering spacious and versatile accommodation arranged over two floors, making it equally suited to family life, multi-generational living or those looking for flexibility as their needs evolve.

The ground floor provides an impressive rear aspect kitchen/breakfast room, complemented by a separate utility room, while the generous living room enjoys direct double door access onto the rear garden, creating a strong connection between the house and its outdoor space.

There is also a useful home office, downstairs cloakroom, separate shower room and two further bedrooms on this level, providing considerable flexibility and making the property particularly practical for those wanting the option of single level living.

The first floor provides two further bedrooms, including a particularly impressive principal bedroom, together with a family bathroom.

The accommodation is therefore both spacious and adaptable, with the layout offering genuine scope for a buyer to use the rooms according to their own requirements.

The current owners have undertaken a significant programme of improvement and investment during their ownership, ensuring the property is presented as a well maintained and thoughtfully updated home.

The double glazing was replaced in 2022 with a 10 year warranty, while the boiler and heating system were renewed in February 2025, including a new boiler filter, heating pump and valves, with the boiler benefiting from a 10 year warranty and annual servicing.

The heating system has also been cleaned and treated, with Hive heating controls installed.

Further improvements include a replacement consumer unit and electrical test, a replaced Velux roof light, renewed roof ridge pointing and chimney repointing, together with substantial improvements to the shower room and bathroom.

The kitchen has also been carefully maintained and updated, including the replacement of the double oven in 2026, while the separate utility room adds a practical dimension that is often missing from properties of this type.

Internally, the house has been redecorated throughout, with doors and door furniture renewed, adding to the overall sense that the property has been thoroughly cared for rather than simply cosmetically updated.

Outside, the gardens are a particular feature.

The substantial rear garden provides a peaceful and private environment, with the owners having installed new fencing, side gates, a dedicated shed and hardstanding, together with additional flower borders incorporating drought tolerant planting.

A soakaway was also installed in 2021.

The combination of the generous plot, established garden and secluded position gives the property an almost hidden-away quality, despite being within a popular village setting.

CCTV, external lighting and a pir porch light have also been added, providing further practicality and security.

A garage and generous driveway provide excellent off-road parking, adding another important layer of practicality to an already versatile home. Agent's Thoughts.

There is something genuinely different about this property.

It is not simply a detached bungalow with additional accommodation; it is the position, plot, privacy and versatility that make it stand apart.

To be tucked away at the end of a quiet lane, away from passing traffic and surrounded by such a substantial garden, yet remain within a well regarded village with a popular local primary school and convenient access towards Basingstoke and the wider commuter network, is a particularly appealing combination.

The improvements carried out by the current owners also provide confidence that many of the significant maintenance considerations have already been addressed, allowing the next owner to concentrate on making the property their own.

For the right buyer, this could be a very special home.

Peaceful, private, versatile and exceptionally well positioned, it offers the rare opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle without stepping away from village life and everyday convenience.
