Ffos-y-fran Close, Newport, NP10 8HY

Guide Price £625,000 to £650,000 A thoughtfully renovated family home with an extraordinary garden on the finest plot on the estate.

Built around 1997, this four-bedroom detached house occupies the largest and most private plot on its estate in Bassaleg, on the verdant fringes of Newport.

The home has been the subject of a meticulous, room-by-room renovation by its current owner, whose guiding vision — an oak and grey palette executed with quiet consistency throughout — gives the house a rare sense of coherence and calm.

The garden, southeast-facing and rich with mature planting, is a place of genuine beauty.

Pye Corner station, putting Cardiff within seventeen minutes, is close by, as are the walks, pubs and community of this quietly treasured village.

The Inside A canopied entrance porch leads into a hall that sets the tone immediately.

The paint colours, predominately by Neptune create a quiet consistency through the home while new carpets add extra luxury underfoot.

To the front of the house, the snug is a darker, more cosy space, painted in Neptune Moss and currently used as a reading room.

The spacious lounge and dining room run the width of the back of the house, painted in elegant Neptune Alpine and filled with natural light from the large windows.

Original cornicing has been retained and made into a feature. A fireplace with a quartz surround grounds the sitting area, while French doors open directly onto the garden.

The dining table here stretches to two metres — an indication of the scale of the room and the spirit in which it has been used, having hosted many Christmases and gatherings over the years.

The large kitchen is finished in the home's signature palette: with oak cabinetry, quartz worktops, and fully integrated appliances.

New glazed doors draw the garden into the room and fill the space with light. There is ample storage, and plenty of room for a table, or island.

Upstairs, four generous bedrooms continue the considered interior narrative. An impressive landing creates a sense of space and style.

The master is a notably large room, colour drenched in rich Neptune Moss and enjoying stunning views over the Bassaleg hills. Grey fitted wardrobes follow the home’s colour palette.

The generously proportioned en-suite, has been refitted in travertine tile, and offers both a bath and a quadrant shower.

The second bedroom overlooks the trees and is bright and composed, painted in tranquil Neptune Silver Birch with a whole wall of fitted wardrobes.

The third double bedroom faces the front of the house and has the same calm and relaxing feel. The fourth double bedroom is currently used as a study, nd has lovely countryside views .

The family bathroom was, by the owner's own account, the original inspiration for the oak and grey scheme that now runs through every room.

A freestanding bath sits at its centre, set on a plinth with LED lighting beneath. A quadrant shower with a rain head occupies one corner.

There is a sense, when the small feature lights are on and a candle is burning, that this room becomes something else entirely.

Outdoor Space The large garden is southeast-facing and catches sun for the greater part of the day.

It is a place that has been tended with genuine devotion — hundreds of bulbs planted over successive winters ensure there is always something coming into colour, while mature acers, agapanthus, a spectacular front cherry blossom and a rhododendron that erupts in red each season give the space both structure and surprise.

The patio has been recently relaid and the fences freshly painted. This private and relaxing garden is the icing on the cake of this beautiful home.

The front garden welcomes you in, while the double driveway leads to a double garage with power and lighting. The Area Bassaleg is one of those neighbourhoods that rewards those who find it.

Quiet, friendly and walkable, it sits at the edge of genuinely beautiful countryside — the walk across Rhiwderin, over the hill, through the forest and along the river is a particular favourite.

The Friendly Fox, is well regarded for its food and welcoming atmosphere. The Ruperra offers a strong community vibe and excellent pizzas.

The Rhiwderin Inn is the place for a Sunday roast, and a farm pop-up on Sunday mornings supplies locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables.

Pye Corner station is within easy reach, with journey times into Cardiff of approximately seventeen minutes. Junctions 27 and 28 of the M4 are close at hand.

A bus to Caerphilly and Newport stops at the end of the estate.

The property is a short walk from both Bassaleg High School and Pentrepoeth Primary, with a path opposite the house providing a convenient cut-through.

Both excellent schools, making this a prime area for families. Tenure: Freehold Council Tax Band: G Local Authority: Newport
