Church Farm, Mount Road, Pontypool, NP4 8JQ

Standing proudly above the historic parish of Trevethin, Church Farm is a remarkable home whose origins are believed to stretch back more than six centuries.

Originally formed from three individual cottages, the earliest section is understood to date from the 1400s, making it one of the oldest surviving residential properties in the area.

Positioned close to the ancient parish church of St Cadoc, whose history can be traced back to medieval times, Church Farm has witnessed the transformation of Trevethin from a rural farming community into the thriving suburb of Pontypool we know today.

The surrounding landscape would once have been dominated by fields, smallholdings and agricultural activity, with the property playing an important role within the local farming community.

Over the centuries, the three cottages evolved and were carefully combined to create the substantial farmhouse seen today.

Generations of custodians have left their mark on the property, resulting in a home that beautifully reflects its long and varied history while retaining much of the character and charm associated with its early origins.

The property's Grade II listed status recognises its architectural and historical importance, preserving an important link to Trevethin's rural past.

Official records identify surviving elements dating from the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, whilst local history suggests parts of the original dwelling may be considerably older.

Today, Church Farm offers a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of Welsh history.

From its elevated position overlooking the valley to its centuries of heritage, the property stands as a testament to the enduring craftsmanship, character and resilience of traditional Welsh homes.

Few properties can claim such a rich story-Church Farm is not simply a house, but a living piece of Trevethin's history.
