76, Sycamore Road, Birmingham, B23 5QR

This is not a home that quietly blends in.

Instead, this home makes a formidable impression, with soaring ceilings, striking bay-fronted rooms, boutique bathrooms, a beautifully styled lounge, and a garden that stretches far beyond what most buyers expect on this road.

Built around 1910, this Edwardian-style home has the kind of proportions, ceiling heights and natural light that modern houses so often try to imitate but rarely quite manage.

Yet behind its period bones sits a home that has been brought beautifully into the present day, carefully updated, thoughtfully styled and finished with a real sense of pride.

With a driveway facilitating off-road parking for two cars, the first impression is characterful, confident and inviting.

The current owners fell for the high ceilings, the Edwardian feel and the sheer amount of space, but they have also invested heavily in making the home feel fresh, finished and ready.

Every wall has been skimmed and replastered, new carpets have been laid, a new boiler installed, new lighting fitted throughout, blinds updated, sockets and fittings replaced, and panelling added to both the stairs and lounge.

Both bathrooms have been fully transformed, and the overall result is a home that feels cared for rather than simply decorated.

To the front, the dining room is a gorgeous, sociable space framed by a deep bay window that floods the room with light.

It is easy to imagine family dinners here, birthday cakes on the table, a quiet coffee in the morning, or friends gathered round long after the food has been cleared away.

There is room for a large dining table, space for a TV, a gas fireplace for warmth and atmosphere, and a clever coffee bar leading through towards the kitchen — a small touch, but one that makes everyday living feel that little bit more considered and premium.

The kitchen itself is arranged in a practical galley style, with an integrated gas hob and double oven, giving you everything you need without overcomplicating the space.

It links naturally with the dining room, making the ground floor feel connected, useful and very easy to live in.

The lounge and brand new bathrooms is where the house really starts to show off the current owners' immaculate refurbishments.

With dual-aspect windows, morning light pouring through and views stretching towards both road and garden, it has a brightness and calm that you can feel straight away.

The newly fitted panelling gives the room a sharp, contemporary edge, while the sliding door creates a lovely sense of separation when you want it.

It is cosy enough for winter evenings, bright enough for slow summer mornings, and stylish enough to feel like the heart of a properly finished home.

The downstairs WC has been fully refurbished too, and it is far more impressive than a simple convenience space.

Finished with marble-effect panelling and a smart modern feel, it continues the same level of finish that runs throughout the house.

Upstairs, there are two genuine double bedrooms, both carrying the sense of scale that period homes do so well.

High ceilings, proper proportions and a feeling of calm make these rooms feel far more generous than many buyers may expect from a two-bedroom home.

The bathroom, though, is the moment that will stop people.

Fully modernised and finished emphatically finished, it has marble-effect panelling, a large Mr & Mrs sink, a p-shaped bath with integrated shower, and a striking Crittall-style shower screen.

The large Bluetooth mirror, complete with demisting feature and colour-changing lighting, gives the room that boutique-hotel feel without losing practicality.

It is stylish, confident and genuinely memorable. And then there is the garden.

Long, private, west-facing and wonderfully peaceful, this is one of the features that truly separates it from many of the homes around it.

Quite a few gardens on this road do not extend anything like this far, so the sense of outdoor space here feels like a real surprise. It is the kind of garden that works for every stage of life.

Children playing on the lawn, BBQs with friends, pets running around, paddling pools in summer, a quiet morning coffee, or sitting out beneath the veranda as the evening sun drops across the garden.

The lawn has been completely refreshed, a slabbed patio area has been added, and the veranda creates a brilliant sheltered spot that makes the rear of the house feel even more usable.

There is also a large loft, which may offer future conversion potential, subject to the necessary permissions, along with further scope for a buyer to explore 3-bedroom extension or layout ideas over time.

But crucially, this is not a home that needs rescuing. It is already full of light, warmth and personality.

📍 Location & Lifestyle Sycamore Road is one of those addresses that may technically sit within a B23/Erdington postcode, but in day-to-day life, the pull is very much towards Boldmere, Wylde Green and Sutton Coldfield.

That is a huge part of the appeal.

Boldmere High Street is close by, with its cafés, pubs, shops and local favourites, while Wylde Green and Chester Road station make commuting and everyday movement incredibly straightforward.

Sutton Park is also within easy reach, giving you one of the Midlands’ most loved open spaces for weekend walks, children, dogs, running routes, bike rides and a proper breath of fresh air.

For families, the area works beautifully.

There are well-regarded local school options nearby, parks, children’s clubs, baby groups, allotments and a genuine neighbourhood feel, with a mix of families and long-standing residents.

The sellers speak warmly about the quietness of the road, the sense of safety, the community around them and how easy life has been here. Practicality is just as strong.

Princess Alice Retail Park, multiple supermarkets, local shops, cafés, pubs, the A38 and M6 links are all within easy reach, meaning you get the convenience without losing the softer, more residential feel that makes this pocket so attractive.

In short, it is not just a smartly updated period home. It is high ceilings and bay windows. Morning light and evening sunsets. A proper garden. A home with character, finish and feeling.

And for buyers who want the Sutton Coldfield and Boldmere lifestyle, but with more space, more value and a home that already feels beautifully put together, this might just be the one that stays with them.
