History: Built in the late 1940s by Logan Edgar, a respected horticulturalist and camellia expert, the house carries with it a rich and distinguished family history.

Its name was inspired by the Edgar family’s ancestral country estate in Scotland, granted to the family by King Robert the Bruce in 1327 and retained by them for over four centuries.

The Edgars were a prominent family, particularly during the 17th century, with members holding notable positions of influence.

Edward Edgar, for example, served as a Member of Parliament for Edinburgh in 1640, and the family’s legacy continues to be marked by two surviving Edgar monuments. Location: St.
