Torksey – A Village Steeped in History Torksey is one of Lincolnshire's most historically significant settlements, situated beside the River Trent at its junction with the Foss Dyke.

Its heritage stretches back through Roman, Viking and medieval times.

The village was the site of a major Viking winter encampment during the ninth century and later became an important trading settlement.

By the time of the Domesday Book in 1086, Torksey ranked among Lincolnshire's most significant settlements, behind only Lincoln and Stamford.

Today, this historic riverside village retains a distinctive rural character, surrounded by the open landscapes of the Trent Valley.

Torksey is approximately nine miles north-west of Lincoln and seven miles south of Gainsborough, offering a countryside setting while remaining conveniently positioned for the facilities, shopping, restaurants and transport connections of both destinations.

Lincoln Golf Club – A Prestigious Local Attraction A particularly appealing feature of the location is its proximity to Lincoln Golf Club, situated in Torksey itself.

Founded in 1891, Lincoln Golf Club relocated from Lincoln to its present Torksey site in 1903. The course was designed by five-time Open Championship winner J. H.

Taylor and is celebrated for its naturally sandy, free-draining terrain, providing excellent playing conditions throughout much of the year.

For keen golfers, having such a historic and established club within the village is a significant lifestyle advantage.

The surrounding countryside also offers opportunities for walking and exploring the River Trent and Foss Dyke waterways, while Lincoln's magnificent Cathedral Quarter, historic castle and vibrant city centre are within convenient driving distance.
