This luxury lodge can be lived in year round or let out as a managed holiday home, giving you a private hot tub holiday hideaway or a chance to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.

Sometimes you have to choose between your heart and your head, the short term and the long term. Here, you don't.

You can use this lodge as a holiday let for now, earning its keep while you're busy elsewhere, then let it become the peaceful woodland base you turn to later in life.

The lodge sits within Otterburn Hall's five hundred acre estate, inside the Northumberland National Park - officially the National Park of the Year and home to the largest Gold Tier Dark Sky area in Europe.

Red squirrels visit the balcony. Deer graze nearby.

The open-plan living room and kitchen give you a genuinely sociable space to gather in, with wood effect laminate flooring and double glazed windows letting the woodland views in.

The kitchen is fitted with a stylish range of wall and base units, integrated appliances and enough worktop and floor space for a proper dining table - not an afterthought squeezed into a corner.

An inner hall leads through to the three bedrooms and a smartly finished bathroom, with a wall mounted wash basin, low level WC and a shower over the bath.

Each bedroom has its own double glazed window and wall mounted electric heater, so it's just as comfortable in January as it is in June.

That’s worth thinking about as the park allows twelve month occupancy, so this can be a proper second home rather than just a seasonal one.

Outside, the decked seating area is where this lodge really earns its keep.

The hot tub is yours alone, and with the picnic bench alongside it you've got everywhere you need for morning coffee, evening drinks or simply watching the squirrels in the trees.

The park allows twelve month occupancy, so this can be a proper second home rather than a seasonal one.

Otterburn village itself is a pleasant 20 minute stroll away, with the on-site Coach House Hotel offering food and drink without needing to get in the car.

Beyond that, Northumberland's coastline, castles and Northumberland Zoo are all within a thirty to forty minute drive, so there's plenty to fill a longer stay.

Whether you're after a weekend escape for yourself, a lodge that earns its keep as a managed holiday let, or a full-time slower-paced life surrounded by nature, this one gives you the flexibility to decide as your plans change.

This lodge offers the rare combination of a genuine lifestyle upgrade and a sound rental proposition, wrapped up in one of the darkest, quietest corners of England.
