Crown Gardens, Frome, BA11 1JZ

Tucked away behind a no-through road and accessed via a traditional flagstone courtyard, stands this unlisted, 400-year-old garden cottage.

The small terrace once formed part of the historic Keyford Coach House, the porch provides a useful area for storing wellies and a woodpile.

Entering the property, the entirety of the ground floor is open-plan and designed for a more modern, all-in-one style of living.

Wooden floors run underfoot, while an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove sits centrally within the living room. Outward-folding windows open fully, inviting you to let the outside in.

A well-positioned window seat beneath the windows creates a charming and inviting place to perch.

With bespoke, solid 100-year-old English oak worktops, traditional shaker-style cabinetry and a ceramic butler sink, the unique kitchen is the statement centrepiece of the cottage.

The kitchen is currently equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, with ample space for a fridge freezer and dishwasher.

The staircase incorporates clever pull-out storage and leads to the first-floor bedrooms and bathroom.

Upstairs, the bathroom has been newly renovated and boasts a full-size bath with a traditional waterfall shower overhead.

The space is greatly enhanced by complementary glazed metro tiles, wooden panelling and traditional fixtures. Two smaller bedrooms are currently set up as a home office and dressing room.

The front bedroom could also accommodate a double bed and enjoys charming views over the garden below. The second room functions as a dressing room, with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes.

Up to the top floor, the largest room is set into the eaves of the house, with additional storage, new solar-powered Velux windows and bespoke built-in shelving.

Immediately outside the property is a shared path leading to the cottage next door, beyond is a gravel terrace, ideal for outdoor dining.

Stretching away from the house is a well-established garden, featuring a shrub willow tree and deep flower beds.

There are also two thoughtfully designed outdoor office spaces within the garden, both fully equipped with electricity, insulation and living roofs.

The larger office has a stone floor, a very large window overlooking the garden and a generous skylight.
