Bugle, Cornwall

A former mine captain's house with around nine acres, a large barn and workshop, at the end of its own private drive in mid-Cornwall. Clan Furse began life as a two-up, two-down mine captain's house.

It has since been extended and modernised into a spacious detached home of about 1,795 sq ft.

The lane leads to the properties own drive and large parking and turning area in front of the house, with fields on every side and long views across mid-Cornwall's patchwork of hedged pasture.

The same owners have lived here for over 30 years, and the house now comes to the market for the first time in a generation.

166.7 sq m (1,795 sq ft) The House A hallway leads into the oldest part of the house. The sitting room (15'3" x 13'1") has a beamed ceiling and a broad stone fireplace with a woodburner set within it.

It is the natural heart of the house in winter. Next door, the office (9'8" x 8'7") suits home working or a quiet snug. The dining room (18'2" x 13'1") is light and generous.

It has room for a family table and a staircase up to the first floor. The kitchen (17'4" x 13'2") is fitted with white units, dark worktops and a range-style cooker, with space for a breakfast bar.

Its windows look straight out over the fields. Beyond the kitchen, the utility room (13'3" x 13'3") is the room every country house needs, with space for appliances, a sink, storage and muddy boots.

There is also a ground-floor shower room with a WC. Upstairs, bedroom one (13'1" x 12'4") and bedroom two (13'3" x 9'4") are good doubles.

Bedroom three (10'1" x 9'9") makes a comfortable third bedroom. Every bedroom looks out over open countryside. The family bathroom has a bath, a separate shower, a WC and a basin.

Outside The private drive opens onto a large parking and turning area in front of the house, bordered by a stone wall.

The land wraps around the house in roughly nine acres of pasture, divided by traditional Cornish hedges.

It is currently grazed by a local farmer on an informal basis, so it comes with full vacant possession. The owners have also used it for training dogs.

It would suit horses, livestock, a smallholding, or simply space and seclusion. The large open barn, car port and workshop is a genuinely useful building for machinery, vehicles, hobbies or storage.

Further outbuildings are spread across the holding, and there is a stone-walled yard close to the house.

Services Oil-fired central heating, solar panels, private water supply (checked and serviced annually), private drainage via a septic tank compliant with current regulations, mains electricity, double glazing.
