Main Road, Nottingham

A rare opportunity to acquire an individual, architect-designed home of genuine Grand Designs calibre, set within one of Nottingham’s most sought-after villages and enjoying incredible, far-reaching views across open countryside.

Built in 2010 to a high specification, with zinc gutters and downpipes and Velfac windows and external doors throughout, The White House extends to approximately 4,171 sq ft and combines bold contemporary architecture with exceptional energy efficiency, achieving an EPC rating of 81/82.

It now sits within a plot of approximately a third of an acre following the owners’ acquisition of additional land from the Duchy of Cornwall. Plumtree is a village that rarely disappoints.

Its rural setting and strong sense of community sit alongside superb access to Nottingham city centre and the vibrant local centres of West Bridgford, Keyworth and Ruddington, while the A52 and A46 place the M1, Newark and Leicester within easy reach.

The village is served by a popular primary school, with school bus services running to the Nottingham High Schools, Trent College and Loughborough Endowed Schools.

Since purchasing the property in 2017, the current owners have invested considerably in enhancing an already impressive home.

A bespoke designer kitchen has been installed, both en-suites have been updated, the layout has been cleverly reconfigured and a new staircase fitted, and the enlarged plot has opened up the south-westerly outlook from the ground floor so that the views can be enjoyed throughout the principal living spaces.

Those views, to both rear and side, take in open fields and, delightfully, the square of Plumtree Cricket Club.

The ground floor is open, free-flowing and flexible, with tall ceilings, bespoke internal doors, and Italian porcelain tiles with underfloor heating throughout.

A generous entrance hall leads through double doors into the drawing room, a superb 20ft reception with full-height glazing, a door onto the decking and a striking stone-hearth fireplace.

The kitchen/breakfast room, also just over 20ft, is the true focal point of the home: A bespoke designer kitchen with Corian worktops, a Quooker tap, electrically operated servo appliance doors and drawers, and a suite of De Dietrich appliances including oven, microwave, coffee machine and induction hob, where full-height glass elevations frame the countryside beyond and the space flows naturally into the dining room on one side and the 16ft family room on the other.

A study, cloakroom with separate WC, utility room with Corian worktops and plumbing for washer and dryer, and a ground floor shower room complete the accommodation on this level.

Upstairs, the principal bedroom is a stunning space with doors opening onto a suspended balcony that extends the full length of the house, offering glorious countryside views, and is served by a separate dressing room area and an updated en-suite.

The superb second bedroom, currently used as a media room, is a generous 19ft room with a suspended bay window, a 13ft dressing room and an en-suite updated to include a large steam room and shower.

Two further double bedrooms also open onto the balcony and share a family bathroom with bath and shower over, twin basins, heated towel rail and WC, with two useful storage rooms off the landing.

Outside, a gated driveway with video entry system leads to the integral double garage with industrial electric roller door, power and lighting.

New composite decking wraps around the house, providing the perfect vantage point for the views, and the rear garden is mostly laid to lawn with an aspect over the cricket club and open fields beyond that is nothing short of spectacular.
