The Slade, Lamberhurst, TN3 8HN

Set within beautifully private grounds of two acres, this exceptional oast house masterfully blends historic character with striking contemporary design.

Extensively remodelled by the current owners, it offers more than 3,000 sq ft of light-filled accommodation where architectural drama and family living come together effortlessly.

At the heart of the home lies a truly remarkable open-plan kitchen and breakfast room.

Double-height proportions, soaring ceilings and expansive glazing flood the space with natural light throughout the day, while bespoke cabinetry and a central island create a stylish yet practical hub for everyday life and entertaining.

Sliding doors draw the outside in, opening seamlessly onto the spectacular glass garden room; a wonderfully versatile space that provides all the joys of outdoor living, whatever the season.

The home's defining feature is the stunning central staircase.

Crafted from steel, oak and frameless glass, it rises through the centre of the house as both a sculptural focal point and architectural anchor, allowing light to cascade through each level while framing fascinating views towards the original cowls above.

Beyond, the principal living room offers a more intimate atmosphere, centred around a wood-burning stove set within an inglenook-style fireplace and overlooking a tranquil Japanese-inspired garden.

Equally charming is the roundel snug, a characterful retreat that perfectly showcases the building's heritage and provides a cosy space to relax away from the main entertaining areas.

The property is particularly notable for its rarity.

Incorporating both a Kentish roundel and a Sussex roundel, it also features an unusual bottle oast, creating a fascinating blend of regional architectural styles seldom found within a single conversion.

Arranged over the upper floors are five bedrooms and five bath or shower rooms, including an impressive principal suite with dressing area and balcony overlooking the gardens.

Outside, mature gardens, an orchard, paddock, former stables, garden room and detached double garage complete a country home of exceptional individuality, style and substance.

What the Owner says: One of the great joys of living here is the wonderful balance between countryside tranquility and everyday convenience.

From the doorstep, there are countless opportunities to explore the High Weald landscape, with beautiful walks around Bewl Water, Bedgebury Pinetum, Scotney Castle and the surrounding rolling countryside.

Lamberhurst itself is a thriving and welcoming village, with an excellent community spirit, traditional pubs, local shops, cafés, a doctor's surgery and highly regarded primary schooling.

It is the sort of place where families quickly feel at home and where village life remains genuinely vibrant.

For wider amenities, Royal Tunbridge Wells is within easy reach, offering an excellent selection of boutiques, restaurants, theatres and leisure facilities, together with some of the area's most sought-after grammar and independent schools.

Families are particularly well served by the breadth of educational choices available, from respected local primaries through to outstanding secondary, grammar and private schools.

Despite its idyllic rural setting, connectivity is superb.

Nearby stations at Wadhurst, Frant and Tunbridge Wells provide regular services into London, making it entirely practical for commuting while enjoying a much more relaxed pace of life at home.

The coast is also easily accessible for days by the sea, adding further appeal to an already enviable lifestyle.
